
We had a tough year as a team. Individually I was pleased with my first year in the NBA but know that I have a long way to go to be the player I think I can be to help our team win a NBA title. I am looking forward to working hard over the summer and helping the Wizards get back in the NBA Playoffs in 2009-2010.

JaVale McGee was born in Flint, Michigan, and attended two high schools in Michigan: Detroit Country Day and Providence Christian, before transferring to Hales Franciscan in Chicago.
McGee was the starting center for the University of Nevada where he had an outstanding college career.
